About Us

First, they took my money. Just a little at first…so I hardly noticed it. But then, one day, I really looked closely at my statements—and noticed a money drain I couldn’t believe!

$10…$20…$30…my money would go in, and almost as fast as I made it, it’d go back into my bank’s pockets again. For what service or return? None that I could see!

I was being robbed, legally, in broad daylight.

The intimidation. The bullying. The threats to close my account or damage my credit score—heck, they had BETTER weapons than a robber with a gun! They had the ability to financially cripple me with a couple of keystrokes.

This made me FURIOUS.

So I tried to make it stop. I’d pick my battles. I’d dispute certain charges. Did those charges come off?

In the process, I discovered that the banking industry collects more than $50 BILLION a year in various service charges—yeah, that’s “billion” with a “B.” That’s more than TWICE what they’d been allowed to collect even ten years ago! They sure weren’t hurting at all. But I was, to the tune of banking nightmares, excessive fees, closed accounts, loan denials, credit foul-ups…even bankruptcy. Every time I tried to rebuild my finances—through online bill pays, electronic transfers, direct debits, etc.—it was only a matter of time before I went under again, to the tune of yet more fees, yet more charges, and yet more pocket-picking by my banks…for which, oddly enough, NO ONE is ever responsible.

Any of this sound familiar?—

You talk to an “account specialist” at your local bank, but they “can’t” do anything.

You then go to the branch manager…but they “can’t” do anything, either.

At that point, don’t you wonder how it is that they have NO power whatsoever to give money BACK to a consumer; they only have power—pretty much unchecked power—to take it away?

It’s time to push back at that crooked system.

Hard.

With NUMBERS.

The old cliché about “strength in numbers” is a cliché because it’s TRUE.

If you go into your bank and try to fight this battle alone, you won’t get any farther than I did.

But if you go in, figuratively, with 100 other people…

Or 1,000…

Or 10,000…

Yeah. Bet THAT sounds a whole lot better!

That’s what Challenge The Bank is all about. Click on the links here to find out how YOU can be part of that “strength in numbers”!

Challenging the bank…sounds great, doesn't it?

Not to everybody.

"Are you nuts?" my friends and family said. "Stop talking crazy."

"How is this crazy?" I asked.

They didn't hesitate to tell me:

It's a waste of time!

Banks have more money than you do—they can wait you out.

They have no time for "little guys." They'll just close your account and ruin your credit, maybe even your life.

All those excuses, I could refute in some way. So what if they closed my account? I'd go to some other bank that would treat me better. How could it be a waste of time to stand up for myself?

"Well," they finally said, "okay, so you get their attention. But then they just call the lawyers. And you know what that means."

Unfortunately, I did. Giving up my power to attorneys didn't appeal to me. And the thought that the bank would use MY OWN MONEY to hire their attorneys ...!

Much as I hated to admit it, I knew that the nay-sayers were at least partly right. When it came to my own individual account, the bank wouldn't care one way or the other about keeping me. If I got annoying enough, they'd just sic lawyers on me.

If a couple hundred--or a few thousand--people all got mad...

If a couple thousand people made enough noise...

THAT could put a crimp in Business As Usual.

Bank officers don't go to court. And they don't want their attorneys wasting corporate time on a bunch of little teeny customers. They're not about to admit to wrongdoing in any public court of law.

But what would they do if confronted with that situation? Maybe one little guy couldn't win against the Big Bad Bank. But maybe a whole bunch of little guys...and gals...could.

That's when Challenge the Bank was born. A way for lots of us to pool our resources, our experience, our expertise, and--mostly--our clout to force institutions to quit rating our importance by the size of our bank accounts.

It can happen. And you can be a part of it.

Only you can answer the question of when "enough is enough." When it is....click on these links and join the fight!
